It's Friday Night...

and the Sens have lost again...They're going nowhere fast...

I read some Aquaman comics last night, and I am now convinced. Aquaman, who almost had his own Smallville spin-off, needs a movie of his own. If Elektra could have her own movie...and if Green Lanterm is getting one...; besides, with the underwater filming that would need to be involved, the effects would be really cool...

I also think that many movie and TV shows have not been properly explored. The live action Star Wars show that they had talked about doing for years (and have decided that it would be way too expensive, therefore they canceled the idea last year) would have been great. Boba Fett was scheduled to do about half of the episodes, and the outlawed Jedi would have been featured quite a bit (like Quinlin Vos.) I think there is a market for another Star Trek show, one that will take place in the proper timeline (not the alternate universe). Really, what would truly could have been left of Romulus when it blew up anyways after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis had a good portion of the population involved in a civil war. Something tells me the Romulans are not quick healers. (Especially with the Remans...) Naturally, Wonder Woman needs to come back on TV, as well as a new version of the Six Million Dollar Man...

(Why do women get so excited over closet space? That beer commercial was just on where the guys yell over the size of the beer fridge. Littlecaveman hates screaming...)

Littlecaveman seems to be getting better. He was running all over the place today after he got home from daycare. That makes me happy. Perhaps, the Force is with them after all...(here's an interesting fact; in the screenplay for the original movie as well as the novel based on it, the Force is never capitalized; in every appearance of the word since, it is always capitalized. This one goes in the useless but kind of cool department.)

That's it for today, I find if I keep it short I can write more often.

Littlecaveman is sick again...

he has another ear infection. This is his second one in three weeks (I suspect that it never really went away.) I was at the Comic Book show at the Civic Centre yesterday, when Mrs. Mattcaveman called to say she was taking him to the clinic again...well, at least I got to read some of my acquisitions while he was napping today (grin...Those who know me know how much I hate missing a day of work, it just piles worse for the return...the things we do for our children.)

I can not believe every time there is a freezing rain warning in this area, that people are still ignorant enough to not pay attention to warnings or check a freakin' weather report. Everytime the local news starts off with "And this freezing rain storm caught people unaware's...." People, I live in the basement (read the title of the blog for freak's sake) and I still check the weather everyday, after all, one has to know how to dress for the weather...sheesh, some people just don't have 3 bloody brain cells, do they?

Started reading the new Warhammer rulebook as well, and I noticed some things we did wrong the last time we played. Have to watch it for next time....

I notice that since I have quit Farmville, I have had more time for this blog. That's just awesome.

(Littlecaveman is upset, I think the Advil hasn't quite kicked in yet...what's wrong little man? Ah, now he's climbing the couch, can't be too upset.)

So, I watched Sesame Street with him today and it has really changed. Jim Parsons (from the Big Bang Theory) was on the show today; apparently they were going on about arachnids, as today was brought to us by the Number 8. Anyways, Jim claimed to know nothing about spiders/arachnids, and I just found it hard to believe (Does anyone remember the Stride Gum commercial he was in just before he made it big?), as he is SO convincing as Sheldon. It is just hard to picture him no knowing anything about anything. Also, Telly's voice is different. I didn't like that. I am one of those guys who hates change, period.

(Tonight's CTV local news is all about new weekly features; run out of news already? I am now used to not having Max Keeping.)

It may be short, but tonight's entry was brought to you by the letter Keyboard, and by the number of thoughts in my head.

How do people manage to do this daily?

My wrists are starting to hurt less, but I still don't know how people find the time to do this on a daily basis. I run out of things to say fairly quick most days, and do not get inspired that much to write daily. Of course, my schedule has been hectic lately and there hasn't been much leisure time to just write stuff down. I have found that I have a lot more time now that I have quit Farmville cold turkey.

I was severely moved this week while reading a comic book. In a story published in Superman #705, it shows the little victories Superman can have. A boy and his mother were being abused physically and mentally by the father in the small town Superman is currently visiting (for those that don't follow comics, the current storyline has Superman is on a "Walking" cross-America tour to show the ordinary people he cares...) Anyways, this kid has finally had enough of the abuse and puts on a Superman shirt as he knows the Man of Steel is coming to town. He gets in front of his mother as his father is about to beat her...and gets thrown into a root cellar and locked in as a result. (As a father myself, how ANYONE can treat their child like this...grrr....aaarrrghhh...) The kid, remembering that Superman is coming, yells until he gets his attention. Superman naturally hears and opens the cellar. The father comes and yells at Superman to mind his own business, and the look on Superman's face when he confronts the father; I have only seen in "Crisis in Infinite Earths" when he gets angry at the Anti-Monitor after Supergirl is killed. Even the panel representing Superman's thoughts are "I could kill him..." The father is arrested and it ends with Superman giving the boy a personal number for him to call Superman every day to let him know if he's OK, and he lets the father know that next time there WILL be consequences (again with the enraged look). A small justice to the world, but every little thing helps. I actually fought back anger myself. The cover itself was compelling, the kid in the Superman T-shirt with a black eye. Comics have always been relevant, but the power of this story was such that it had to be autobiographical. Kudos.

Anyways, today I feel the need to continue with another top ten list, so here is yet another person's "Hottest Girls List..." Just kidding, there really only is Buffy and Supergirl (and Kirsten Bell, got to have one "real" person on this mini-list.) And I wonder, can there be a 1.000000001 and a 1.000000000001 on a list, who needs to choose. (P.S. Watching Supergirl get bitchy with Cat Grant in this month's issue was hawt!) And of, course, with Spike back just after Buffy has declared her love, again, for Angelus (with the accompanying "naughty thoughts" about Spike; does Buffy think of other things then sex,... woo hoo) is this not an interesting way to end the series run? Stay tuned....

Anyways, Saturday morning, and Littlecaveman is tapping on the TV again, got to go stop him...Bye.

I have finally quit Farmville...

and it feels great, I feel like I have more online time and freedom now, to pursue the true meaning of life, like whatever happened to the guy who play "Squiggy" on Laverne and Shirley...(He does bit parts every once in a while...)

It's Sunday morning, and my son is watching Toupie et Binou again...I will have to point out one day that it was his first geek thing. If Mrs. Mattcaveman ever gets out of bed, I shall make pancakes this morning. It will be a quiet day until Littlecaveman gets up from his nap, and then the current tradition of leaving the house continues, as we have to make an appearance at my mother's house today. (Oh look, Toupie et Binou are knights again, they haven't done THAT storyline to death.)

I want to take a minute to talk about a serious problem...male pattern baldness. It is cool these days to see that the majority of men who are bald or balding to shave their heads clean, but to those still trying to cover up with a toupee, JUST STOP! It looks ridiculous. It always makes me think of Frank Costanza when I see it, especially in the 70's blue suit. Listen men, as long as you have a bit of a sculpted body (or lots of money), American women seem to like the hairless look these days, and what American women want, all women eventually want. So if you are balding, just shave your head (and save my eyesight for comics, television and video games.)

(Apparently Toupie is driving a bed now, this guy must really have a great imagination, or some serious hallucinogens. Of course, Binou never says anything.)

No more Farmville! No more Farmville! I can't stress this enough.

Prediction today: Detroit Lions 35, Buffalo 10.

Short one today, and I leave with a final thought: This week was Remembrance Day, and everywhere you look, everyone was wearing poppies. With one exception. Gilles Duceppe. Here is an open thought: M. Duceppe: you go on and on about how Quebec needs its own army after independence. Well, if you can't support Quebecers that are currently serving in the Canadian armed forces or those that have given their lives already by wearing the poppy (I see there are even veteran's licence plates in Quebec, tabernack), then just KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT until your comments MAY have some relevance.

Good night, folks.

I guess McGrattan should have kept his mouth shut...

because he was placed on waivers today by the Bruins, a week after his personal attack on Chris Neil of the Senators. Chris Neil is a solid third-liner, you are a minor-leaguer. Karma's a biotch...

Way back when the blog started, I had done an entry on Star Trek Warp speed. I promised then to produce an argument or explanation of the warp speed at some point. This is what I have found: http://www.trekmania.net/science/warp_scale.htm . I find it interesting mostly because I can't believe somebody took the time to do the math. That, my friends, is dedication to a cause...

I see that Wil Wheaton is going to be on the Big Bang Theory again this week. I can't freakin' wait. It is so nice that Sheldon has a recurring mortal enemy, especially one that insulted his meemaw. (I just realized Liz Vassey played two different women on the Charlie show...) Anyways, it amuses me in the commercials to see Wil's smirk. Faith was on the show last week as an FBI agent doing a security check on Wolowitz, but she didn't stand out except for the part with Leonard hitting on her (Classic, when she asks if her 6'2 Marine husband could join them...)
Penny returned briefly. She needs to be on more again (I hope Ms. Cuoco's leg is better.)

Speaking of the Big Bang, I still can't believe that Leonard is the same guy who played the kid in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, that movie was a lifetime ago...and yet I still love to watch it every year. I can't believe that Randy Quaid has turned into a flake claiming refugee status in Canada.

I wish my wrists would feel better, this typing with braces on is hard...

I am going to finish today with more random thoughts...

Who was the first human to see a beehive and stick his hand in (because you know it had to be a man...) a beehive to taste honey? Did he get stung on his tongue?

Who does Santa believe in?

Why does toast always land butter side down when you drop it?

Why didn't Vader sense Luke while he was ON Death Star 1?

Why does it always take 45 minutes to get to work and 90 minutes to get home?

How is it that Julia Louis-Dreyfus looks better now than when she was on Seinfeld?

Good night, folks.

I am so torn...

Having read Supergirl Annual #2 this week, I think I have someone I like as much as Buffy...what is it about girls that can kick your ass...Anyways, the story guest-starred the Legion of Super-Heroes, and an updated Satan Girl was the villain of the month. The original Satan Girl was, of course, a duplicate of Supergirl, created by the unpredictable effects of Red Kryptonite (as detailed in Adventure Comics #313; reprinted on several occasions, including Adventure Comics Digest #500, where I reread the story yesterday...) I remember as a kid that my dad had a lot of comics from the Silver Age, and I grew up reading them (especially the DC Universe...) and Supergirl was in first Action, then Adventure Comics. She was also in the Legion then, and as I was (and still am...that's why I bought the book in the first place) a huge LSH fan I got to know her a little bit. (Batman and Superman were still, well, the "Man".). Knowing that Kara Zor-El is on Smallville , makes me want to watch Smallville (although I am not familiar with the concept of her being older than Kal-El.)

For the record, I also liked the following members of the Legion the best: Element Lad, Lightning Lad, Sun Boy, Timber Wolf, Superboy, Supergirl, Triplicate Girl/Duo Damsel, Matter-Eater Lad, Wildfire and Karate Kid. (Honourable mentions to: Star Boy, Dream Girl, Ultra Boy and Ferro Lad.) Bouncing Boy deserves a mention here for scoring Duo Damsel.

But enough about this, it's time to get to the real reason we are here, to read my wisdom. Because my thoughts are more important then anybody else. (I'm a legend in the making, really, I am!)

Buffy is great, she really is...it makes me wonder what Sarah Michelle Geller is doing these days, (besides looking after her kid.) Wasn't she good in Cruel Intentions? The only thing that movie was missing (besides more skin) was a cat fight between Reese Witherspoon and Sarah Michelle. I would think that alone would be worth the price of admission, (Well on top of the girl-on-girl kiss...Makes me think, I wonder if Duo Damsel's two bodies...for those that do not know her powers or who she is see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duo_Damsel, have ever been known to give Bouncing Boy a bit of fun...curious, wink wink?) That girl-on-girl kiss scene apparently was faded out (too much rewinding) on most rental copies of the movie...similar to the Phoebe Cates scene in Fast Times in Ridgemont High...anyways, I'm getting distracted again.

Littlecaveman has been sick for most of the week. I am typing this right now with him on my lap.

I really need to get more gaming in, I am getting a little rusty with the rule systems...especially Warhammer. I have a game scheduled this week for both Warhammer and D&D (Thursday and Friday.) and I have to get some information first (Like, how many points I need to do make an army list from.) I have to use the High Elves right now, because I don't think I have enough points in my Vampire Counts army. I can't even remember the last time I played any video-games.

Anyways, time for the Littlecaveman to go to bed. Bye for now. Next time, we will discuss why Star Trek needs to happen.

Littlecaveman was a robot for Hallowe'en...

it was nice to see (and it was my year to choose his costume; Mrs. Mattcaveman wasnted him to ba a spider, he wouldn't even have 3 HD, for the Force's sake!)

I see that Family Guy and the Simpsons will both have their Hallowe'en episodes this weekend; I can't wait for Fox to lose the World Series so that they go back to the time of year that it is SUPPOSED to be in. November is for veterans and pre-Christmas sales (and the Grey Cup), and for our Yankee neighbours, NFL-on-a-Thursday Day. 3 games this year, again I believe.

This October was the busiest month I think I had ever had in my life that I can remember in a long time anyways, I don't think I was home from morning to night twice this past month. I absolutely hated it! I am getting too old to be out every single weekend (and a lot of evenings after work). I was hoping that things would quiet down for awhile, but sure enough, November is starting to fill up again...and of course, we all know what happens in December...

I need to learn more about the Thor and Green Lantern movies. I also need to get a copy of Iron Man 2 and see Wolverine. I am a disgrace to geekdom having not seen Wolverine yet; I have watched Superman Returns like 10 times and still haven't seen Wolverine...bad, bad boy.

Looking forward to Big Bang Theory this week, Faith will be on it, (No Buffy though, I really wonder what Sarah Michelle Gellar is doing these days....she was at one of the Comic Cons this year, I believe it was San Diego...no one really big comes to Toronto that is not Canadian or a bit player...)

My wife posted pictures of Littlecaveman with Captain Janeway in the background on her profile on Facebook. He seems to be into it, and I like that, because Star Trek is one of the few geek shows that I can play in front of him.

I have been reading the Bruce Wayne, the Road Home one-shots and I am convinced that nine books is a little too many for one month...great premise however. Bruce has returned from the past (Check out the webcomic Gutters for a strip where Batman is a joke on this premise...I will post the link on my next entry) and he is checking out all of the other members of the Batman Family to make sure they are OK. There is a R'as al Ghul one and a Catwoman one (another movie I haven't seen...), and it is a small stretch for that (OK so Ras is the grandfather of the current Robin, maybe he qualifies...)

Anyways, take care for now.
