yes that great 1984 movie that represented the first time guys of our generation got to see a panty raid...what a great movie. I am reminded of it because Mrs. Mattcaveman was watching West Wing reruns on DVD, and the guy who played Poindexter is in it as a reporter. A lot of people seemed to get a career from that movie, Anthony Edwards, John Goodman, Ted McGuinty, etc...
Speaking of Ted McGunity, he was also on Happy Days, the Love Boat and Married...with Children (Bundy is God!) Pretty good resume for an actor, I guess. Do you notice however, that today, people tend not to have more than one show, maybe two anymore...I'd love to see more people like Puddy; he has been on Seinfeld (high five!), the Tick, Dave's World, and that current show with David Spade, and of, course Family Guy!
(I wonder if anybody's played 'Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" with sitcom stars...Kevin Bacon was on that one episode of Will & Grace....hmmmm....)
Listening to some Motley Crue right now. Boy Vince Neil was an idiot this week, getting himself caught allegedly drunk driving, the guy's already got one conviction (and killed someone to boot.)
Anyways, today's wanderings have me thinking about whatever happened to certain stars from what I call TV's true golden age (1975-1995)...I should really take the time to look it up and get back to you all. I mean I really enjoyed a lot that was on then, but I realize now that I probably have watched way too much TV in my life. But, all those hours weren't a total waste, I can probably win a useless trivia contest - (Who played John Baker on CHiPs? Larry Wilcox of course, who also briefly reprised the role in National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon..another Samuel Jackson movie...he really is in everything.) And whatever happened to National Lampoon? I may not have gotten all the jokes, but as 13 year old discovering the greater world, I remember the "Foto Funnies.' (I think it was always the same girl...)
Yes the late 70's early 80's a great time pop culturally to grow up, you kids have it different now. Baseball still had a drug problem, but it was cocaine...(Tim Raines' Expos career was almost finished by it) ah...memories. (giggle...)
I digress. I have been a weird nostalgic place lately. The whole point I had when I started this was just to talk about what was on my mind at any given time, and I am accomplishing this here. Thanks for the ear. right now I need it. (Friendly Giant thoughts have crossed my mind for some reason. Did anyone else want to see Rusty get plucked and tossed out of a window? I found him annoying, though not as annoying as Aunt Bird on Mr. Dressup. Apparently they were done by the same puppeteer. What a career to have. Shoving your hand up a character's ass and having to invent a voice that doesn't sound "goosed" or like your own. Yet people can make money at this. Good for those that can, and yes I KNOW Yoda was a puppet.)
Anyways, have a great day, and stay in school, especially if there's a pub there (Like Bert's Bar was at Algonquin...how dare they have changed the name!) Have fun, kids!

I can't believe England lost that bad...
That referee must be drummed out of FIFA. I can't believe he missed that goal. A tie game and it would have been different, I just know it.
Got to play Talisman last night and some Munchkin. I was stuck with the Amazon for the Talisman game but was pleasantly surprised by her powers. I lost to the Wizard, however. The Munchkin games I played, I got to see some cards that I have never seen before. I was laughing my head off during the game, as usual. The guy who draws the cards of course is John Kovalic, the creator of Dork Tower, and I love how he uses the Igor character so much in the game (Huzzah!) Apparently Igor is based on a guy he knew growing up. You must read this webcomic.
For those who love Star Wars, here is an interesting site for you: http://blisstree.com/feel/232-star-wars-lines-improved-by-substituting-the-word-pants/?utm_source=blisstree&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=b5hubs_migration . Enjoy and smile. Humour is what the world needs more of, especially of the geek variety. This of course reminds me of the kerfuffel caused when Star Wars was filming, because according to Mark Hamill, the studio heads had some problems with the movie, because the Wookiee had no pants.
I always want to find cool stuff to share, the above link is just an example. I will always continue to search. Besides, I enjoy randomly searching the web for interesting (and nerdy) stuff. D&D seems to have the most different sites overall, but there are tonnes of Star Wars/Star Trek humour sites that are just begging to be read.
Anyways, short one today, just to say hi. May all your adventurers return to the tavern.

Happy Quebec day...
had the day off work, nothing of significance to report. (I probably should type in French today but....well, quite frankly my French writing skills are not that good. It's not like it's Ewok....) I did discover today that Space plays 5 straight hours of Star Trek now Monday to Friday...Enterprise, followed by original (the Special cleaned-up version), then Deep Space Nine, TNG and finally, Voyager. I wonder if they ever thought to show the "Trouble with Tribbles" TOS episode, followed by the Deep Space Nine same episode crossover. This reminds me, if you ever want to why Klingons from The Original Series have no ridges like Khan and Worf does, read this: http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Klingon . It's about three paragraphs down. A very cool explanation actually.
(Ni nata noochka....)
Listening to some Skid Row I haven't done that in along time according to my Windows Media Player, so it's time, I guess. (Slave to the Grind...) It still bugs me that Sebastian Bach is 1) no longer in the band; and 2) he was a semi-regular on the Gilmore Girls. I saw Skid Row open for Aerosmith back in 1990 (I believe that was the Pump tour...) and they had a potential to be a great band. Oh well...things work out the way they do for a reason I guess.
(Hyeeeeeeee.....logs get cut....)
One of these days I am going to learn how to add pictures to this thing. I'm sure it can't be that hard.
The purging continues at my basement secret place. I actually have three-quarters of a drawer empty space now, as well as a half a shelf free. I have also been able to put all of my Munchkin rules together in one place now...(Could not find Star Munchkin's rules like forever!)
The earthquake yesterday knocked over all my Star Wars Lego starships and my R2-D2, as well as most of my Vampire Counts army was on the floor when I got home from work yesterday. Luckily they didn't scatter very far, and only the R2 unit had any significant breakage. Stuff also fell down from my son's shelf units, again nothing was broken.
(Yub yub!)
I wonder which man-made language would be the most practical to learn: Quenya, Klingon, Huttese, Ewok, Cardassian, Vulcan, Adunaic, Sindarian, Esperanto? (When you think about it, all languages are man-made aren't they? It's just that these ones are artificial, and not the result of many centuries of contact with others.) It must be neat to truly belong to one of these small groups of people that can actually converse in these languages.
Anyways, I am off to get a snack. Have a great day.

The Force is strong in that one...
is the third last thing Vader says in A New Hope. (For the record, the last thing he says is What!!??) OK The second last is "I have you now." By the way, the most misquoted line in history is in the Empire Strikes Back. He says "No, I am your father." Not, Luke, I'm your father or some variety here. Just saying...(while on my way to the Dagobah system).
I sit here typing this with both Mrs. Mattcaveman and Mini-caveman in the room. Mini is singing a song that consists of three syllables over and over. That's one more than Lady Gaga can manage in a song. (Buck, buck, be buck....mmmm...chicken....)
I still wish I had a Tim Horton's in walking distance. Maybe Ottawa does have one advantage over Aylmer after all. (But our chicks are hotter! And they speak both ways!)
I think I want to be a hippy. Just to sit around all day and listening to tunes and drinking...tea. Yes, the Rutles poison (see clip here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijFDkpNma-k) Yes, that's Eric Idle from Monty Python narrating, for those that don't know. On second though, I'm too twitchy to be a hippy. However, I will always live for the flower people (clip here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfD-E9hKCWM), just to keep living the dream.
You, know, Katie Couric is pretty cute for a newsgirl. I see the oil in the Gulf is still flowing. The parts must have been American union-made...
Trivia, who speaks the last line in A New Hope... (The answer will startle you...) Hah! Beat this geek! Of course, I have the entire Internet at my hands...
Space showed Star Trek: The Motion Picture on Saturday. I haven't watched that one in years...It of course brings back the question: Voyageur 2 was launched in the mid-70's (based on the Jupiter pictures and the fact that it reached Neptune in 1989...geez 21 years already...) When the heck was Voyageur 6 launched? (The program has been defunct for years). And if it encountered a black hole that sent it across the galaxy, how did it come back so fast? I'm sure there's an explanation at Memory Alpha (the Star Trek Wiki for those who don't know...), but I really don't feel like looking it up right now (see the V'ger entry in particular.)
I wonder what Irregular Webcomic is building to. They have been doing time travel strips for weeks now, and I'd like to see the conclusion. I'm all atingle...
The trivia answer - R2-D2! His beeps and boops are the reason.

To those about to rock....
we wonder why the hell you are doing it at 7h52 EDT?
Had a game of Talisman last night. Two of my D&D buddies came over and we played until quite late. I always forget sometimes how long this board game can be, but it is still awesome. I had the Gypsy at first and she was getting quite powerful when I got Reapered and she died (my usual continuance of rolling 1's outside of D&D continues...) So I had to finish the game with a weak Gladiator. For the record, the winner got the Assassin and got really strong by the end of the game. (We also had a Priest that was really buff by the end of the game.) It was the first game I can ever remember where everyone got Toaded at least once. (The Witch ended up on the Oasis and because of the Toadings, there was a lot of swag there, so people kept trying to get it...)
I have Radio Rivendell on right now, and even though I have mentioned this before, I love it. I will push this down everybody's throat if I have to, as the music is so soothing and conjures up all sorts of mental images (of the heroic variety) for me. I am just a small, sad, lonely man (♫ burning in love!) that types about his geeky life in his basement (which is NOT his mother's, BTW), therefore, heroic thought comes to me naturally. I think maybe I'll watch a LotR movie later, as I am slightly inspired.
My son has become quite the little mover now. He walks for quite a bit before he falls on his crap-catcher padded little hiney. I know that every parent becomes proud at the smallest things there kid accomplishes, but since he is the best thing I have ever accomplished, I feel justified in my pride.
I have decided that I need to get into an exercise regimen. I am getting sick too often now and I hear that exercise helps to build the immune system (which would help as my asthma medication suppresses parts of my immune system, thus making my throat - sore again this morning - a breeding ground for scientific discovery) It also doesn't help that I can freely admit that my screwed-up mind has a touch of hypochondria (I have had seven fatal diseases this week alone in my mind...) It doesn't help either that my heart medication lists "vivid dreams" as a side-effect. Many is the morning I wake up thinking my dreams really happened. I can't seem to be on Vitamin "P", it really makes me sick to my stomach all the time. I also think I need a massage therapist (real one...) to stop the tension in the muscles in my back and neck.
I see this morning that the Bruins are trying to trade Thomas. Please send him to the West, he's a Sens-killer (which means, of course, he will end up in Toronto eventually.)
And big finish...
I wish there was a cheesecake in my fridge (real commitment to the exercise thing, eh?)

Superman, where are you now...
a line from the Genesis song "Land of Confusion" which happens to be playing right now ("and this the world we live in .....") This song was recently covered by Disturbed (the band, not the state of mind I'm in.)
Christ, my wrists are sore, especially the left one, I thought that the CTS braces were supposed to help, and I notice I have less periods with the tingles, but when does the "realignment" happen ("and these are the hands we're given...")
Ah the song has changed ("That's All" same band). I really like tunes, you can always find one to make your day.
I am now in the fourth book of the "Wheel of Time" series - Shadow Rising. I have to admit the first time I read this series, this is the book I had the hardest time putting down. It has been easier to find things here in the Mattcave once I purged a little, I hear that other friends of mine are doing the purge also. I also did a massive clean of the litter boxes and it doesn't smell so bad down here anymore, which is good because apparently Mrs. Mattcaveman wants to have a mini girl geek night here in the 'cave. (Hide the half-naked posters of Cordelia and Buffy! Chicks are coming...grins) No, I don't actually have any posters, my walls still have the insulation showing. Seriously, I have lived here going on four full years now, isn't it time I get around to finishing the basement?
Got to read an excerpt from a potential story about one of my favourite D&D characters from an old campaign. This character was deadly, and funny, (I remember this one time that we heard a very nasty thing behind a curtain and he just stuck his head around and said "Hello!", and got knocked out for his effort. The rest of the party very nearly joined him on the ground.) and I hope to see more of this. The character's miniature was one of the best jobs I had ever seen done by a person not working at Games Workshop (and better than most of theirs, too). For the record, this guy (who shall remain nameless, as always here) is the one who introduced me to the Looking for Group webcomic, as well as the Goblins one. (Senor Vorpal Kick-Asso! - here is a character I should have mentioned in my favourite characters.)
Speaking of GW, I received an email from the mailing list today that they are starting the pre-orders for the 8th Edition. I am not ready yet! I'm still getting used to 7th! Crap. More $$$ out of pocket, I guess (the real reason behind the upgrade.)
I've already began to read rumours of a D&D 5th edition (see http://www.feartheboot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=8291&start=0). Perhaps they will bring some stuff back...(only three years after the 4th edition...smart! If it's true, way to PO your fanbase, WOTC!)
Anyways, have a great day. Go England!

Why won't my son eat dinner?
He eats breakfast, snacks and lunch fine, but supper?
I'm going to talk about more characters I like, and why I like them. Could me books, movies TV, comics, etc....
Q - Omnipotent powers and can be anywhere he wants and do anything he wants (gee, Ma, I think I just defined omnipotent), mixed with a great dose of wit and sarcasm. He rocks!
Howard's mother, Mrs. Wolowitz - An unseen character, she is a great foil to Howard (Mr. Red Lobster!)
Brainiac 5 - The smartest member of the Legion of Super-Heroes and one of Supergirl's boyfriends, and he lives in the 30th Century to boot. Invented the Time bubble, the Legion flight-ring, cured his own insanity, plus he has green skin with blond hair while wearing a purple jumpsuit as a superhero costume (stylin...no need for Queer Eye here); he has it all (including the most original nickname - Brainy!)
(Speaking of the Legion - did anybody out there know that Chemical King was dating Invisible Kid? And that Shrinking Violet had a relationship with Light Lass? Not that there's anything wrong with it...)
Iron Man - all versions, the comic has a different feel than the movies, but they both rock. (And isn't Samuel L. Jackson cool as Nick Fury?) The best period I find in the comic was from about 1981-1984 when Tony was so drunk that Jim Rhodes had to be Iron Man for quite a while. I remember one story when Tony was so hammered that he couldn't remember he had money. (I think this was around when Stane International took over Stark's company).
Gimli - in the books he was an interesting side character, he was a little buffoonish in the movies.
Lenny Briscoe - still the best cop that was ever on Law & Order, always had a line for every situation, plus you get to see his daemons, on occasion. (Side note - according to Wikipedia, Jerry Orbach donated his corneas after he died.)
Barney Gumble - Why I love to drink beer in bars, I am still searching for him. He really does have some of the best lines on the Simpsons ever - remember this form the Mindy episode (The Last Temptation of Homer):
Barney: Maybe it is just an infatuation, I'll bet if you talk to the girl, you'll find you have nothing in common...
Homer: Why Barney, that's so profound. How did you come up with that?
Barney: It's written right here on this cocktail napkin...
Classic.
Beverly Crusher - because she's smart and wears really tight tops.
and last for today....
I really like Aquaman. Family Guy makes him the butt of jokes, but the 70's series really was well written and Aquaman was a very good sympathetic character. Hi son was killed; his wife left him, he lost his throne (do you feel an underwater country song coming on?)... and through it all he still stayed in the Justice League and had a fulfilling life; even though he was allergic to shellfish....(plus Jim Aparo was the artist...enough said.)
Until next time....

My little guy really loves Toupie et Binou...
it's his first real geek thing. He is living up to my expectations well. Except for the fact he seems to be glued to the coffee table. Seriously, he bangs his head on that thing more times than David Lee Roth does in the Panama video.
I can't believe the goal England gave up today, cost them two points for sure, hope it's not the difference to making the elimination round.
I hope to be able to spend some time in Korthos in the next little while. I have only got the final dungeon on Korthos Island (the really long one with the white dragon) that I have attempted three times before and failed to do before moving on. Of course, I am playing a wizard, therefore I am lacking in the healing resources department. (Plus those damn splints make it real hard to point my mouse in the right direction. DAMN CTS!) I can grip a paintbrush without pain or tingling in my fingertips now, so I will start to paint again soon. (Still not ready to use a hobby knife steadily yet I think.)
I have been flipping through some old stuff as I have been purging, and have come across some surprises that I did not realize I had. I still have my old medusa from the Original AD&D miniatures that I had tackily started to paint bright purple (with the old Testor Oil Model Paints even...) I got that when I was like ten years old, as well as a goblin and hobgoblin figure that came with. And these figures are lead, so I have to hide them well so that little fingers don't touch them. Finding them has shown me that lately, my whole existence has been about nostalgia, and the past. The old teenage service group. The high school reunion coming up. Lately, it's all been about the past, and here I have a wee one who needs me to think in the present, and for HIS future. I guess turning 39 this year is getting to me. (Plus, lately, I've had a lot of time at home to sort off dwell on these things...)
(Christ, Toupie's tail looks like a coiled turd....)
Anyways, sorry to get all philosophical for a moment, I'm back. Scored 100% on a Batman Begins quiz on Facebook today; of course, having just watched the movie last weekend with Mrs. Mattcaveman (her suggestion, I need to add; we also watched Star Trek and Iron Man.) I am ashamed that I only got 95% on the Marvel/DC quiz; I know better than that.
My apologies, apparently I have now mentioned the hot side hot, cold side cold twice. I forgot the second time I did it.
Off to give the little one a bath, until next time....

I can't believe I forgot....
the following Simpsons episodes in my list...there are too many good ones to count!
Homer breaks his jaw - when Homer says "I'm horny" and Marge says "I'm not sure what you said, but I'm sure it was lovely..."
Marge lets her jugs out...(her boob job episode.)
Apu showing Manjula he loves her in the Valentine's Day episode...the Sea Captain talking about his crew...
Homer when he becomes the actor playing the superhero "Everyman', that trainer was great.
Homer's assistant Karl... I can go on forever.
The show did take a small step backward when Phil Hartman was killed. There has never been a Lionel Hutz or Troy McClure appearance since (13 years now almost, I think.....that's how long the reruns have been on.
And of course, the Plow King. I want to have a Presidential Party on my 10 000$ bill (Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch!)
I really need a game of something soon, I am going through some serious withdrawals. I have been flipping through some rulebooks lately trying to brush up on some rules, and realized that I don't know the 3.5 rules as well as I could. What's happening to my memory? (I forgot to ask the doctor about it last time I saw him...figures) Seriously, I must have turned undead a hundred times with the last two paladin/clerics I have played, and I still can't remember the rules. Just call me Forgetful Jones...(and if you don't know who he is...that's OK, I forgot too.) Of course in 4th edition, the turn undead rule has completely changed. It seems a little easier. (Clerics only by the look of things can turn undead n 4th.) Thank God we have the rulebooks for reference at all times. (What was I typing about again?)
Now that the Cup has been awarded, the silly season for TV begins. Congratulations, Chicago. No hockey except draft day. All reruns and new reality shows. Space is going to show the Merlin series from last summer, which I enjoyed, and has Giles from Buffy playing Uther Pendragon (Arthur's father). This was an interesting series (and the girl that plays Morgana is hot!), maybe I should watch it again.
I have been eating bologna sandwiches all week, and I love it. I should buy it more often. It also reminds me of that old Space Ghost Coast to Coast show, because of the Brak Baloney sandwich song (link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VI_yJsT5Fc). Naturally, as Mrs. Mattcaveman and I went to Montreal not too long ago, I sang the Highway 40 song on the highway there (Link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axNS-gjmp2A; note that Mr. Buffy himself is in this video...) Space Ghost was interesting, to say the least...
Anyways, bye for now; I'm not feeling the greatest and this is all I can type at the current time...

Superman never made any money...
saving the world from Solomon Grundy, but he is still one of the coolest comic book characters ever. Not too many people know that one of his co-creators is Canadian. I guess he is not completely the All-American hero after all.
I think that the physics behind the Superman movies was well thought out. I need to see them again. Of course, it doesn't compare to the physics used on the Big Bang Theory. The producer actually have two physicists on the show's payroll to make sure that the math and concepts are accurate. Now that's reality on television.
Tonight is Game 6 of the Cup Final. I am looking forward to it, hoping that this series will not end...
I have been giving the Simpsons favourite episodes a lot of thought. It is so hard to pick it down to a few. But I will give it a shot:
Kamp Krusty - Mr. Black! My new best friend - Mr. Black!
The B-Sharps - Apu de Beaumarchais - great (for the record there is a rue Beaumarchais here in Aylmer, and Mrs. Mattcaveman hates everytime we drive by it (it's off McConnell) because I always say "Apu de Beaumarchais" as we pass it by it) stuff, even for an insult to his God and his culture. Plus, there is the whole George Harrison thing.
The World of Warcraft one - Where Marge joins WOW and fights with Bart; Moe of course is a troll under the bridge (I paid 14,95 $ a month for this?)
I already discussed the Homer gains weight for disability one a few days ago...
Comic Book Guy dates Skinner's Mom - what's the Klingon word for loneliness ?
Krusty fakes his death - Handsome Pete dances for a nickel...
Of course the Treehouse of Horror where Comic Book Guy (face it CBG rocks!) says Aquaman can't marry...nuclear bomb goes off..I have wasted my life.
There you have it for now.
Other crap on my mind...(random thoughts again)
I hate pop-ups.
Whatever happened to the hot side hot and the cold side cold?
Why can't Space play MST3K again? (Crooooooowww!)
Will Batman ever find true love, that's not Talia al-Ghul or Catwoman?
If Superman was colour-blind, would he still lose his powers under a red sun?
Have fun, folks.

I saw on Facebook...
that one of my Facebook friends has decided to purge, as he has too much crap. It has got me to thinking that maybe I have the same problem, so I think not only will I go on a purge, but I will not buy anything for my little corner of sanity for a while. I don't know how long a while might be, but we can see...(Although I see nothing now that I can get rid off...as I went through a purge when my corner moved a couple of months ago.) I suppose that outdated computer magazines can be purged, as can some ratty beat-up duplicate copies of older RPG stuff....and a bunch of unneeded loose stuff. Well, we shall see.
My son has been sick for three days now. Poor little bum has had an ear infection. Luckily, now that we know we can fix it, as we have the (medical) technology now.
(Listening to the Beatles right now....Paperback writer!)
Heard lately that one of the favourite watering holes of a lot of people I know is closing soon. Place has been around forever, I remember when we used to go there after band practice. That is sad, and I wish it wasn't closing, but the reality is that the old holes are closing one by one. A piece of Ottawa never to return.
(When the rain comes.....)
Just made myself some burgers on the BBQ, and it got me to thinking that I wish I could really cook so I could make gourmet burgers instead of the standard take-patties-out-of-the-box and flip them twice, then slap some processed cheese product crap on top with plain mayonnaise. I think that burger joint in Westboro has it right.
This is the roughest time of year coming up. No hockey or new shows for months. I don't like reality TV as people who know me understand, and that is all that seems to be on during the summer that's new. I wish I could buy TLC just so I could cancel Kate exploits eight. This show has run it's course, I understand that it had a niche somewhere, but those kids are not cute anymore (I hope that they are all potty-trained by now.) Americans being the way they are, they should have a new show starring John, and the "children" (read 18 year old girls) he picks up for their 15 minutes of fame (the other 15 being in Girls Gone Wild, of course) It would be a ratings smash on Spike. Really. Then we could get a break from the non-stop CSI and Star Wars movie marathons (Actually, I do like those...I think I can do 97% of the dialogue from a New Hope just here with no audience....Let's see, C-3PO: Did you hear that? They shutting down the main reactor. R2-D2: Beep beep boop (translated as So?) and so on....as this blog could get really long fast.
(Christ, you know it ain't easy....)
I have way too many Star Wars Expanded Universe novels. There's got to be at least 100 here. Throw in some Dragonlance, Wheel of Time, JRR Tolkien, and Forgotten Realms, and we have a crapload of novels here. Hmmmm....(Bhut was in my spellcheck, crapload is not, go figure....)
(God, it stinks here, I can smell that one of my cats just dropped a biscuit...)
Anyways, have a great day, and come by the Mattcave anytime...

Listening to Radio Rivendell again.
Yep, I love it.
I don't like the new proposed copyright laws in Canada. Although many currently illegal activities will be legalized under the "fair-use" doctrine (as Canadians already do it), I find that the Federal Government is getting way too powerful when it comes to gathering information on Canadians. Forcing ISPs to give information on their customers immediately (i.e. no warrant) will lead to a very slippery slope. (i.e. We want to get this guy for, say, tax evasion, but we need proof, hey find out if he downloaded illegally so we can get his computer, and through inevitable discovery, oh look here are the records we are looking for, no warrant!) And for what, so Global can try to still make money (by charging CRTC "Canadians must pay the highest rates of anything in the world" rates that only give the illusion of competition) off of "Traders" reruns? I don't mean to get political here, but who hasn't downloaded one song or youtubed a Bugs Bunny cartoon (of which some are in the public domain, by the way) on occasion. Most people who know me know that I tend to be on the Conservative side of politics, but I can't agree with Captain Sweater-vest on this one. If an election were held today, I may have to abstain...
Now back to the real meat...
My son is walking up a storm now, it's only a matter of time before I begin his education. He needs to know all the important stuff in life, like Darth Vader being Luke's father, the Mirror and Alternate Universes in Star Trek, how to turn undead and smite evil, the defeat of Saruman, you know, important things. (How Argo City survived the destruction of Krypton, is still a great mystery to me...maybe we can discover this together. It would give us an excuse to interview Supergirl...) Plus I need him to learn how to cook as my cooking is "killing" everybody in my family (grin...)
I am disappointed that the wizard class was radically changed in 4th edition D&D (Do you remember when they still were magic-users?). The concept of studying for spells and then using them up once a day was a great system, why did they mess with it?
Last night while watching the hockey game I was flipping through some of my older gaming stuff, trying to find some more things I can throw at my party. I have decided that a little side adventure (where my party can do a little bhut-kicking) might be in order, just to get away from the giants for a while. I also have to get off my ass and create a character sheet for the NPC they should be encountering in one or two more sessions (and I realize my players may get wind of this, it's not like I'm giving out the details. And "bhut" was in my spellcheck, amazing.)
I am working on the Simpson's list, the classics I find may surprise some people out there.
And, finally, can Comedy Central bring back "Beat the Geeks?" That was a cool show.

The Simpsons are so classic
aren't they? The episode where Homer gains weight to work from home is on right now, and I remember when it first came on. "Dad, it says non-toxic..." Pure classic.
(Towel rack!)
This means that in a few days, me and my new best friend...(MR. BLACK) will sit down and discuss the best Simpsons episodes ever. So stay tuned, this will be better than our Movies ruined by romance list.
I love webcomics. I am currently reading the Order of the Stick, Dork Tower, Real Life Comics, Full Frontal Nerdity, Darth & Droids, Irregular Webcomic, Looking for Group and Least I Could Do. I used to read Goblins, but was beginning to get a little tired of it. I have also found the reprints of the old Phil & Dixie strips from Dragon Magazine and the Duelist. Gaming comics and geek comics are so fun. (I also saw an ad for Geek 2 Geek Dating service...want to bet that one has 50 guys sign up for every girl....)
I also notice that there are a lot of geek T-shirt ads on the aforementioned websites. They are interesting, I wish I had the money to buy a few of them. They are very well written. I guess they know their target audience.
(I wash myself with a rag on a stick....classic!)
It's been too long since I could just do things carefree like...Responsibility truly sucks.
One of the T-shirts Mrs. Mattcaveman pointed out to me today was advertised on Facebook in the little corner ads. It was Sheldon Cooper going "Bazinga!" I have a feeling that shirt is an instant classic. Why I bet even Captain Sweatpants and Will Wheaton will get one. I think it's so awesome that Wesley Crusher ended up becoming a gamer/comic book fan in real life. It makes up for the character of Wesley Crusher in the first place. In fact, I think the next D&D monster my gaming group goes up against shall be named Wesley Crusher just so they can brag "I killed Wesley Crusher!" Or Bargle (and if you know who Bargle is, you rank among the truly geeky.)
Currently reading Book 3 of the Wheel of Tome "The Dragon Reborn". I find the first three books really move the plot along but then it drags a little bit during book 6-8, then picks up again... I said to myself I was going to read them all in order in preparation of reading Book 12, mostly so I can remember what happened without relying on Wikipedia (who needs Coles notes anymore?) Christ, I love Wikipedia. I don't care if it isn't completely accurate, I just love it. It helps remember names of Simpsons episodes, which will come in handy soon.
Anyways, have a great day, and remember to avenge Aleena the Cleric!

It has been an interesting couple of days....
Got to go to the wedding of one of my D&D buddies this past weekend in Montréal; had a blast. Me and Mrs. Mattcaveman left the wee one at home. It was our first trip alone together since he had been born (unless you count the week after he was born when he was in the NICU). I wished it was longer, but I sure missed the little tyke on the way home.
When I arrived home, an old friend had buzzed me on Facebook (just as I was about to get rid of it). He started a group from an old activity that we all did as teens; and I was amazed at how many people from that group joined over the last four days. For all I have been through lately, this brought a massive smile to my face. As is my policy, I never name names to protect the guilty, but if you are reading this (and you know who you are), thanks so much. You have made a soon to be 39 year old very happy. (Is it too early for my mid-life crisis?)
I was a little frustrated with this year's season finales. (What the hell were you thinking, NCIS?) I wish that for once, a season would end with the story at a clear-cut ending for the summer, but, NOOOO, they have to make you wig out all summer waiting for the resolution. Bastards. Especially since Sheldon is dating Blossom. And why did Howard and Bernadette break-up? That was just mentioned in passing (I probably talked about this before...it sounds familiar.)
It looks like the Stanley Cup final is turning into a bit of a bust with Chicago already up by 2. I know that Pierre "I know everything so I won't shut up about it" McGuire says that you are never out of it until you lose at home, but can anyone see Philly winning more than one game?
Anyways, a short one today, stay tuned.
