Revenge of the Nerds

yes that great 1984 movie that represented the first time guys of our generation got to see a panty raid...what a great movie. I am reminded of it because Mrs. Mattcaveman was watching West Wing reruns on DVD, and the guy who played Poindexter is in it as a reporter. A lot of people seemed to get a career from that movie, Anthony Edwards, John Goodman, Ted McGuinty, etc...

Speaking of Ted McGunity, he was also on Happy Days, the Love Boat and Married...with Children (Bundy is God!) Pretty good resume for an actor, I guess. Do you notice however, that today, people tend not to have more than one show, maybe two anymore...I'd love to see more people like Puddy; he has been on Seinfeld (high five!), the Tick, Dave's World, and that current show with David Spade, and of, course Family Guy!

(I wonder if anybody's played 'Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" with sitcom stars...Kevin Bacon was on that one episode of Will & Grace....hmmmm....)

Listening to some Motley Crue right now. Boy Vince Neil was an idiot this week, getting himself caught allegedly drunk driving, the guy's already got one conviction (and killed someone to boot.)

Anyways, today's wanderings have me thinking about whatever happened to certain stars from what I call TV's true golden age (1975-1995)...I should really take the time to look it up and get back to you all. I mean I really enjoyed a lot that was on then, but I realize now that I probably have watched way too much TV in my life. But, all those hours weren't a total waste, I can probably win a useless trivia contest - (Who played John Baker on CHiPs? Larry Wilcox of course, who also briefly reprised the role in National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon..another Samuel Jackson movie...he really is in everything.) And whatever happened to National Lampoon? I may not have gotten all the jokes, but as 13 year old discovering the greater world, I remember the "Foto Funnies.' (I think it was always the same girl...)

Yes the late 70's early 80's a great time pop culturally to grow up, you kids have it different now. Baseball still had a drug problem, but it was cocaine...(Tim Raines' Expos career was almost finished by it) ah...memories. (giggle...)

I digress. I have been a weird nostalgic place lately. The whole point I had when I started this was just to talk about what was on my mind at any given time, and I am accomplishing this here. Thanks for the ear. right now I need it. (Friendly Giant thoughts have crossed my mind for some reason. Did anyone else want to see Rusty get plucked and tossed out of a window? I found him annoying, though not as annoying as Aunt Bird on Mr. Dressup. Apparently they were done by the same puppeteer. What a career to have. Shoving your hand up a character's ass and having to invent a voice that doesn't sound "goosed" or like your own. Yet people can make money at this. Good for those that can, and yes I KNOW Yoda was a puppet.)

Anyways, have a great day, and stay in school, especially if there's a pub there (Like Bert's Bar was at Algonquin...how dare they have changed the name!) Have fun, kids!
